From big cities on the coast to rolling midwestern small towns, students and campus communities nationwide are providing leadership to address energy challenges, protect natural resources, and combat climate change. Each city and every state are affected differently and it will take more than just one blanket policy or solution to drive real change.
That's why Defend Our Future and the National Campus Leadership Council teamed up two years ago to elevate the innovative approaches students are taking to make their campuses greener and inspire students across the country to get involved and take action.
The White House Youth Climate Conference, co-hosted by NCLC and Defend Our Future in 2015, brought 60 student leaders from 40 colleges whose student governments have made climate action a priority. Building on last year’s expansion to more than 120 student leaders, we are excited to bring the program back this year to include young professionals in the conversation.
We’re hosting the summit in partnership with Defend our Future in Washington, D.C. from June 5-7. We encourage you to nominate yourself or a student leader you know who is doing amazing sustainability work.
We will accept nominations for participation until May 1, 2017. You may nominate yourself or someone else affiliated with your college community. The current student body president from institutions represented by the selected participants will be offered a spot at the event. Selected participants will be notified by May 5, 2017. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Don't worry about costs--we are covering all travel expenses (including airfare, hotel, and meals) for students who are selected to join. See you in Washington!
